World Trade Center

Wtc which a means The World Buisness Center was started to builtin 1966r.according to the project of two architects:Minoru Yamasaki and Emery Roth. The building lasted for 7 years and it cost 750 million.The center consisted of 7 buildings (World Financial Center) the bigest in the world. However the most famous where the twim tawers bouth 110 floors and they were 415 and 417 m. high. The skyscrapers were situated on Manhattan and they replaced the famous Empire State Building which nod been highest building so far. For 4 years the towers were the highest skyscrapers in the world. The twin tower quickly became not only the symbol of New York but also the symbol of whole America. The symbol of sukccess and richness. There were mainly offices butalso hotel rooms, metro station, restaurants and hundreds of boutiques very popular in New York. They were the place for many nacional companies.For example:The Coffe, Sugar and Coca Exchange, the new York Cotton Exchange, Salomon Brothers INC, American Express Bank, Sumitomo Bank Securities INC, Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse Group, Commerzbank, Deutsche Bank Ag and many others. The surface of the offices was 800 000 m2 with 198 lifts and the biggest in theworld air-conditioning system. The complex was visited by 70 to 150 thousand People every day and about 40 thousand people worked in there. In a good weather you could edmire the view of the city whole from the viewing gallery on the 107th floor WTC2.

After 30 years since the building wos finished the twim towers of World Trade Center no longer exist. The day of 11.09.2001r. most newyorkes will propably remember as a huge nightmare. Everybody could see the towers burning but nobody believed that they can collapse. Unfortunatly at 11.00 the south tower collapsed and after 30 min. the north tower no longer existed. New York and the whole Usa lost one of their marvellous symbols. As a result of the terrorist attack in New York 2792 people died including 150 brave firefirghters and policemen. There did not realise the danger andtried to reach the highest floors of World Trade Center to save people.
