Employment in public services - UPS Level 2 Diploma

Scenario:
You are now beginning your journey on the Level 2 Diploma in Public Services. It is essential that you begin to form a career goal so you can focus on clear aims during your course. The aim and purpose of this unit is to encourage you to research a career and job role you are currently interested in. This assignment will begin this process.

Task 1

Choose two contrasting Uniform Public Services that you are interested in. You are to research main purposes, roles and responsibilities of your chosen public services. This should include organisational objectives, mission statement and any specific legislation that govern your public services.

Once you have completed your research you are to produce an information sheet. Your information sheet must be laid out as follows:

a. A title and introduction.
b. A section that outlines and explains the main purposes, roles and responsibilities of your chosen public services.
c. A section that discusses the main responsibilities of your chosen public services including their accountabilities.
d. A section that evaluates the main roles, purposes and responsibilities of one of your chosen public services. This is not a repetition of what you have written; you are required to demonstrate a deeper understanding of your chosen public service. You should think of including statistics, performance targets set in strategic plans and annual reports.
e. A conclusion of what you have learnt.
