John Paul II, Karol Jozef Wojtyla was born on 18 May 1920 in Wadowice. He died 02 IV 2005 in Rome. He was elected pope in the conclave dn. 16/10/1978 theologian, philosopher, ethicist. After graduating from high school in Wadowice, he studied in 1938-39 Polish philology at the Univ. Jagiellonian. He was an actor (Studio 39 Theatre Rapsodyczny) During the occupation from 1940 to 1944 he worked in a quarry physically Solvay Chemical Plant in Krakow. In the years 1942-1945 he participated in the clandestine Faculty of Theology of the Jagiellonian University, in 1946 he graduated from theology and was ordained a priest. Continued his theological studies at the Angelicum in Rome under the direction of R Garrigou-Lagrange. (Doctorate issue of faith in the works of St. John of the Cross, 1948) After returning to Poland in the years 1948-1951 he worked as a vicar in Niegowic k. Bochnia and Kraków (academic pastor in Krakow) in 1953, he habilitated at the Jagiellonian university (Evaluation of the possibility to build Christian ethics assuming system of Max Scheler, ed., along with other texts in 1959) Since 1954, lectured in moral theology and history of ethical doctrines KUL. (In the years 1956 to 1978 the head of that cathedral) practiced also strongly zintelektualizowaną literary work (under the pseudonyms Andrzej Jawień, Stanislaw Andrzej Gruda, Peter Jasień) devoted to issues of relationships of historical, national, ethical, and, taking a dialogue with the tradition of Polish Romantic literature.
