✎ Over the years, the technology has significantly developed. There have been introduced innovations that have simplified our lives. The vast majority of people use computers on a daily basis. One of the examples of such a technological development is the fact that students from all over the world have a tendency to help one another with their homework over the Internet. They tackle school-related problems together, which is a terrific way to broaden our knowledge, however, should it be the case to allow students to use computers during exams? There are obviously some positive aspects of enabling students to use computers during exams. In the first place, when it comes to foreign languages, it is not always possible to come up with an appropriate word or a phrase that we need at a particular moment, that is why it would be a good option. It would definitely save a lot of time. Another significant benefit is that at times, students seem to forget some basic information and they cannot continue with their essay. It is often the case that they are knowledgeable, but due to enhanced stress level they have difficulty in remembering relevant facts. Last but not least, an opportunity to be able to search the Internet in case it is necessary, is a factor that decreases our stress level. Consequently, it increases our work efficiency. Nonetheless, allowing students to use computers during exams entails a few negative aspects. The main drawback is that such a solution could [adversely] affect students’ view on learning. Therefore, it would prevent them from being as devoted and conscientious as many of them are. A further negative side to be considered is that cheating could become more common. Obviously, if someone committed a plagiarism, an examiner would discover it. Students cannot be underestimated, though. After all, it is not difficult to arrange an online conversation and have someone help us. Lastly, not everyone is aware of how to properly process information. Some facts on various websites differ than the officially approved information. Taking everything into account, allowing students to use computers during exams would be a good choice in some cases, however, I am of the opinion that all the negative aspects exceed the positive ones, and such a notion should not be implemented.
