In Great Britain the same as in Poland there is always a christmas tree at home. People hang different decorations on christmas tree: glass baubles (BOMBKI), gingerbread (PIERNIKI), sweets and also kids often make some decorations. In Great Britain Christmas is a very important holiday for children. In Great Britain children don’t get their presents under the christmas tree, but in the christmas stockings. Children hang huge stockings on the fireplace and Santa leaves the gifts, when he gets into the house through the chimney. Children get their presents on 25th of December, called Christmas Day. When they unpack the gifts, the family eats dinner together. They have roast turkey, goose or beef they also eat christmas pudding with dried fruit. For dessert they have round pies with nuts and dried fruit. A common tradition is pulling the christmas crackers on Christmas Day. Crackers look like big sweets in which there are toys, sweets and riddles. Other traditions are burning logs in the fireplace on Christmas Eve, sending christmas cards and hanging the mistletoe. 26th of December is Boxing Day. In the past on Boxing Day people gave presents to their servants and poor people. Now they meet with family and friends on christmas parties
