In 1892, Willem Kolling - post office worker in the Dutch village of Dieren, decided to take the bicycle trade, as one of the first recognizing the advantages of this new vehicle. Initially, Kolling selling bikes imported from England. Soon, has partnered with the seller in a shop with products of iron - Rudolf Arentzenem. In 1902 he bought a new room and started his own production called Gazelle. Between 1920-1940 the company is constantly growing. Domestic market, as well as international demand constantly increasing. This is also due to the growing market for the Gazelle bike in Indonesia, which was at that time a Dutch colony. Many survived the Gazelle bike across Indonesia today and are highly sought after collectors items.
