Wales is part of United Kingdom. It is situated next to England from one side and Atlantic Ocean from the other. The capital of Wales is Cardiff with the population almost 320000 people. Other large cities in Wales are Newport, St Davies, Bangor and Swansea. The country is officially bilingual, which means that we can use English language as well as Welsh. The Welsh language is an important element of Welsh Culture. The national symbol of Wales is the red Welsh Dragon, but other national emblems include the leek and daffodil. The most popular sports in Wales are rugby and football. Wales have its own national representation in this disciplines. “Hen Wlad fy Nhadau" ("Land of My Fathers") is the National Anthem of Wales and it is played at the events like football or rugby matches. Traditional Welsh dishes include leaver bread (made from seaweed), bara brith (fruit bread), Cawl (a lamb stew) and cawl cennin (leek soup), also very popular are Welsh cakes and Welsh lamb. Wales is often called "the land of song", because of the harpists and choirs. The most famous Welsh music artists are Duffy and Stereophonics.
