My favorite dish is called “pierogi”. It consists of dough and stuffing. The dough is made with flour, eggs and water. As the stuffing you can use cabbage, mushrooms, meat, cheese or fruits. The best known in Poland are “pierogi ruskie”, which in English you could call Russian dumplings. They are made with potatoes, curd and onions. They may by served alone with sauce or with fried onions. Russian dumplings are my favorites. My dad likes the one with spinach, and my mom with blueberries. The dumplings are one of the traditional dishes in Poland. We cannot imagine Christmas Eve without them. There is a special kind of dumplings served with soup called borsch. They are called “uszka” and are half the size of Russian dumplings.
