On a hot summer day, we sometimes observed on dry, sandy soil columns of air rotating around its axis and the rising cloud of sand and dust. They are several feet high, and quickly disappear. These are small dust whirls or sand, sometimes also known as sand or dust devil. The reason for this phenomenon is the strong local overheating of the air. Under the influence of rotational movement of air rises to the top.
