Jan Matejko was born 24.06.1838 in Krakow as the ninth of eleven children of Francis and Joanna Matejko Carolina . Is widely regarded as the most outstanding Polish painter. In summer 1863, Matejko immortalized in several sketches wooden buildings of New Wisnicz . In later years, Master John, along with his wife and children visited Bochnia , holiday arrivals to Wisnicz resulted in several works (eg painting " The Raising of Lazarus, " painted in 1866, also designed polychrome altar , stained glass windows and stalls in the chapel of holy Kinga in Bochnia St. Nicholas and sketched the image of the sacred ). On 1 November 1893 at the age of 55 years , died Jan Matejko in his home.
