It’s great to hear from you again. Thanks for the news about your school. Is your school near to where you live or do you have to travel a long way?My school is five kilometres from my house so I have to travel on my school special bus. It takes about five minutes to get to the bus stop. Many other pupils travel on my bus because our school is the biggest in the area. The school is in a tall, red-brick building. In fact, there are two schools in one building: that is, a primary school for children between the ages of seven and thirteen and a secondary school for pupils between the ages of fourteen to sixteen. We start primary school when we are six or seven years old. I’m twelve so I’m still at primary school. My school has about two hundred pupils. They are girls and boys. Some pupils live at the school. As we learn and play in a separate part of the building, we don’t play with the pupils from the secondary school.I like my school because it’s clean and pleasant. It has large windows and wide halls. This is why it’s full of light, and it’s very comfortable. There is a slot machine in the entrance hall. We buy soft drinks and bars of chocolate from it. In the far corner of the hall are two tables for table tennis. Boys love playing tennis in their breaks. They bring bats and plastic balls from home. We have got twelve classrooms. There are many flowers, posters and pictures in them. Every class has a separate room. My classroom is green and yellow. Sometimes we change rooms with another class. We usually go to our science room to do experiments and we go to our library and the reading room to look for books and magazines for our projects. We often visit the computer room to find information on the Internet or learn how to use a computer to help us with our homework. Three times a week we go to our gym to have games and exercises. Every day at twelve or one o’clock, most of the children meet for lunch in the lunch-room.Let’s go inside my classroom now. When you open the door you can see a lot of maps, posters, photographs and postcards on the walls. There are also special shelves for our collection of stones, shells, and other things that we bring back from our school trips and holidays. In one corner of the room there is a small video library with our favourite videos. We can explore our country and the whole world in our video library! Each time we watch a new video, we go on a long journey to exotic countries and continents or into space. Our teacher tells us about some famous Polish travellers and climbers: Ryszard Kapuściński, Monika Rogozińska, Anna Czerwińska, Wanda Rutkiewicz, Marek Kamiński and Jaś Mela. They are our heroes. We’ve got a big noticeboard with photos of them. I like my classroom and my school. I learn here but I also play and have fun!
